AVID at Botello Elementary: Empowering Young Learners

At our school, we are proud to implement the AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) program in our elementary classrooms, fostering essential skills for academic success. Through engaging practices such as creating one-pagers to summarize activities, our students learn to synthesize information and reinforce key concepts

Our teachers integrate the AVID WICOR framework into their lessons, utilizing strategies like Costa’s Levels of Questioning to encourage critical thinking and deeper inquiry. This collaborative approach allows students to work together, building teamwork and communication skills while enhancing their understanding of content.

By nurturing these skills, AVID prepares our young learners for future academic challenges and empowers them to take charge of their educational journey. We are excited to see the positive impact this program will have on our students’ growth and success!
